About this role

Role overview A cloud and SaaS cost intelligence platform is hiring a Data Engineer to expand the data integrations that turn fragmented vendor billing into a single, trustworthy view of customer spend. The role sits within an R&D team and focuses on the data side of an integrations framework that ingests billing and usage from cloud providers, SaaS platforms, data clouds, and AI vendors. It is a fully remote position open to full-time employees in select European countries and Israel, with contractor arrangements possible in Eastern Europe and Portugal.

Responsibilities - Build and maintain new integrations against third-party billing and usage APIs, expanding the share of customer technology spend visible in the platform and keeping pace as vendors change pricing models. - Use AI tooling throughout the engineering workflow for codebase exploration, prototyping, code generation and review, debugging, testing, and documentation, while applying judgement about where human review is still required. - Own data correctness end-to-end, including deduplication, handling of late-arriving and restated data, reconciliation across cloud marketplaces, and support for negotiated rather than list pricing. - Design and build normalization models that reconcile heterogeneous vendor bills into consistent units, currencies, time granularity, resource taxonomies, and cost categories. - Own ingestion pipeline orchestration, scheduling, and backfill mechanics, making backfills a routine and safe self-service operation. - Partner with product, support, and downstream engineering to identify gaps in coverage and proactively propose improvements.

Requirements - Three or more years of professional experience in data engineering or a data-heavy backend role with production ownership of pipelines relied on by others. - Strong SQL skills with the ability to write, read, and reason about the performance of non-trivial analytical queries. - Hands-on experience operating data pipelines with an orchestration framework such as Dagster or Airflow, or an equivalent tool. - Proficiency in Python, or another language used fluently for data work. - Experience with a cloud data warehouse or analytical store such as BigQuery, ClickHouse, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar. - Track record integrating third-party REST APIs, including handling pagination, rate limits, partial failures, late-arriving data, and imperfect vendor documentation. - A demonstrated instinct for data correctness, with the habit of reconciling totals and asserting numbers rather than assuming them. - Existing, concrete experience working AI-augmented across an engineering workflow. - Experience developing solutions in or using cloud services. - Clear written and verbal communication in English, with a self-organized and goal-oriented working style.

Nice to have - Background in cloud or SaaS billing data, including cost and usage exports, marketplace billing, or the FOCUS specification. - Familiarity with Go, used across the backend services. - Experience building systems with financial or audit-grade correctness requirements such as invoicing, metering, revenue reconciliation, or billing engines. - Exposure to FinOps practices or cloud financial management products. - A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits and work setup The position is fully remote with flexible working options. Full-time employee benefits include unlimited vacation, health insurance, parental leave, an employee stock option plan, a home office allowance, a professional development stipend, and a peer recognition program. The team describes a culture oriented toward entrepreneurial ownership, continuous learning, and inclusive collaboration across geographies.
