Manager, Software Development Engineer, Iris AI

Role overview This leadership role manages a team of senior engineers building the AI capabilities of an identity security platform. The team operates large language model inference, retrieval, tool calling, agents, and evaluation systems that surface anomalies in audit data and power intelligent authorization decisions. The position reports into the Director of Engineering for the AI product line and owns a slice of the roadmap.

Responsibilities - Lead, hire, coach, and retain a team of software engineers, running one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career development. - Translate product and engineering roadmaps into operational plans and own delivery, scope, and prioritization for the team. - Partner with peer engineering managers, product, UX, architecture, and platform teams to align priorities and present recommendations. - Balance feature delivery, reliability, technical debt, and the cost and latency of running LLM-powered features in production. - Establish quality practices for non-deterministic systems, including evaluation harnesses, prompt and agent regression testing, and production monitoring of model behavior. - Ensure AI features meet security and privacy standards, including tenant data isolation and defenses against prompt injection and tool misuse. - Oversee code and design reviews, and own operational health including infrastructure as code, CI/CD, monitoring, on-call, and incident response. - Champion AI-assisted engineering practices where coding agents are used daily to design, write, and review code.

Requirements - Track record leading software engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and resourcing to meet deadlines. - Strong background operating production systems that rely on LLMs or other machine learning components. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience aligning cross-functional partners. - Demonstrated ability to manage scope, delivery, and operational priorities in a fast-moving product area. - Must not require any current or future US work authorization, including F1-OPT, F1-CPT, H-1B, TN, L-1, or J-1.

Nice to have - Experience building tools, APIs, or integrations that AI agents call, such as MCP servers, function or tool-calling interfaces, or plugins. - Expertise in Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines. - Experience launching new teams or products in ambiguous, fast-changing environments. - Experience establishing AI-first engineering practices and measuring their impact.
