Sr. z/OS 3rd Party Software Support Technician

Role overview This senior technical role plans, implements, sustains, and advises on IBM System z/OS third-party software, utilities, upgrades, and maintenance within mission-critical mainframe environments. It requires deep expertise in installation, lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and integration within parallel sysplex environments.

Responsibilities - Plan and execute product installations, upgrades, and maintenance for z/OS third-party software, including prerequisite verification directly with vendors. - Use SMP/e to receive and apply z/OS software, interpreting output messages to resolve installation issues. - Configure and maintain datasets and parameter libraries using system utilities such as IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, and IDCAMS. - Diagnose and resolve product abends by analyzing system logs, traces, dumps, job output, and monitoring tools. - Lead release analysis, develop test plans covering functional, integration, performance, regression, and security compliance, and coordinate cross-product impacts with peer system programmers. - Adhere to Change Management and CAB policies, evaluate risks before changes, and mentor junior staff.

Requirements - 7–10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics. - Active Secret clearance and IAT-II certification. - Demonstrated experience operating in parallel sysplex environments with strong SMP/e and z/OS systems skills.
