Atlassian Platform Architect

Role overview This is a senior, hands-on platform architect position focused on the Atlassian ecosystem within a large, complex organization operating in the healthcare data space. The role blends enterprise architecture with deep technical delivery, owning the technical direction, health, and evolution of Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and related tools. The architect will define target architecture, governance, and standards while personally designing complex automations, integrations, and service management solutions across a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities - Define and maintain the target architecture, technical strategy, and prioritized roadmap for Jira, JSM, Confluence, and the broader Atlassian ecosystem. - Establish enterprise-wide standards for data models, workflows, schemes, custom fields, permissions, automation, integrations, reporting, and naming conventions. - Lead platform remediation efforts, reducing configuration sprawl, technical debt, duplicate objects, and inconsistent platform patterns. - Design and implement complex solutions using Jira Automation, Rovo, ScriptRunner, REST APIs, webhooks, and Marketplace applications. - Define JSM and ITSM architecture covering service requests, incidents, problems, changes, knowledge, and asset management, alongside integration standards for APIs, identity, authentication, monitoring, error handling, and recovery. - Introduce architecture reviews, change controls, and lifecycle-management processes; act as the senior escalation point for complex platform risks and high-risk changes.

Requirements - 6–8 years of experience leading Jira and the Atlassian ecosystem within a large or complex organization. - Deep hands-on Jira Cloud and JSM expertise across workflows, schemes, custom fields, permissions, automation, security, and project configuration. - Strong technical experience with Forge, REST APIs, webhooks, workflow extensions, and enterprise integrations. - Experience defining enterprise architecture, platform governance, configuration standards, technical roadmaps, and reusable design patterns. - Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally with IT, Security, Privacy, Compliance, Enterprise Systems, Product, and Engineering teams.

Nice to have - Experience evaluating Marketplace applications and emerging Atlassian capabilities, including AI-driven offerings and Rovo, based on security, privacy, cost, and maintainability. - Familiarity with licensing, application rationalization, vendor decisions, and platform investment planning.
