Remote job
UX Researcher
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This founding UX Researcher seat centers on deeply understanding expert practitioners—governance leads, security engineers, and compliance officers—who carry accountability for how AI is deployed inside regulated organizations such as banks, hospitals, and insurers. The role owns research end-to-end, turning firsthand observations of high-stakes workflows into a confident, opinionated point of view about what to build and what to skip. Success looks like a product team that builds from real user evidence rather than tidy assumptions.
Responsibilities
- Plan and run studies end-to-end: deciding who to talk to, choosing the right method, and translating evidence into product decisions - Spend real time alongside the practitioners who use these tools daily and bring back the unvarnished reality of their work - Distill research into clear, opinionated direction that design, engineering, and leadership can act on together - Sit close to design and engineering so insights land while work is still in motion, not after a release - Establish lightweight habits and systems—repositories, syntheses, rituals—that let user understanding accumulate over time - Present research findings to the full company and make the case for the next set of product bets - Feed user needs directly into roadmap conversations and prioritization trade-offs
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's in HCI, psychology, design, a social science, or a related field—or equivalent hands-on research experience - 5+ years in UX or product research with a track record of studies that visibly changed what a team built - Fluency across mixed methods—generative and evaluative, qualitative and quantitative—and the judgment to pick the right one for the question - Strong storytelling and communication skills, including the ability to make a complex expert workflow legible to a cross-functional audience and defend a recommendation to stakeholders - Ability to reason abstractly and lay out a path from problem to solution for non-technical partners - Working knowledge of modern research tools (Dovetail, Maze or UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, Figma) plus light quantitative analysis using tools like Amplitude or SQL to triangulate signals
Nice to have
- Prior experience researching expert users in serious, high-stakes domains and earning their trust quickly - Comfort owning ambiguity and setting direction on a fast-moving, early-stage team
