Role overview

Lead developer relations for an open-source data and AI infrastructure platform. The role combines community building, technical storytelling, event leadership, and close collaboration with engineering and product teams. It is suited to someone who can explain complex infrastructure clearly and build credibility with experienced technical audiences.

Responsibilities

- Grow and support a developer community across open-source projects, online channels, and industry events. - Work with engineers to create technical blogs, deep dives, demonstrations, tutorials, and other educational content. - Represent the platform at conferences, technical meetups, customer discussions, and community gatherings. - Design and deliver events for data, platform, and AI practitioners. - Gather developer feedback and turn it into useful input for product and engineering priorities. - Build sustained relationships with contributors, users, and technical leaders.

Requirements

- At least 3 years of experience in developer relations, developer advocacy, or a technical role involving substantial external engagement. - A demonstrated record of growing technical communities or organizing effective developer events. - Meaningful involvement with a recognized data or AI open-source project or ecosystem. - Strong technical writing skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers. - Credibility when working with practitioners of data infrastructure, distributed systems, or AI platforms. - Comfort presenting technical concepts to audiences with significant engineering experience.

Nice to have

- Previous experience as a software, data, platform, or AI engineer. - Experience at an early-stage infrastructure company or another developer-focused organization.

Benefits and work setup

- Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with remote work available. - Requires up to approximately 30% travel, primarily to the Bay Area. - Published compensation is $120,000–$200,000 in base salary, plus equity and benefits.
