A senior pre-sales architect role focused on U.S. public sector customers, particularly those in the defense industrial base. The position partners with sales to identify use cases, design distributed data and AI architectures, and guide customers from evaluation through proof-of-concept and implementation. The work blends customer advisory, technical leadership, and open-source community engagement around modern data engineering and machine learning.
Responsibilities
- Partner with sales teams to help public sector customers understand how a unified data and AI platform can address their business problems - Provide technical leadership for customers evaluating and adopting modern data, analytics, and AI capabilities - Consult on big data architecture, run proof-of-concept projects for data engineering and machine learning initiatives, and validate integrations with cloud and third-party services - Build reference architectures, how-to guides, and demo applications for customer audiences - Champion open-source projects such as Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and MLflow through developer meetups, conferences, and webinars - Travel to customer sites within the assigned region
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required due to contractual obligations supporting U.S. public sector customers - 8+ years in a customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, or consulting role - Experience designing and architecting distributed data systems - Comfort programming and debugging in Python and SQL - Hands-on experience building solutions with a major public cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) - Familiarity with data engineering technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) and data warehousing concepts such as SQL, OLTP/OLAP, and decision-support systems
Nice to have
- Prior experience supporting public sector clients - Degree in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, applied mathematics, or operations research
