Sr. Manager, Field Engineering

Role overview

Lead and grow a team of solutions architects serving startup customers, combining people management with senior technical pre-sales work. Responsibilities

- Hire, onboard, coach, and mentor solutions architects, building a capable and collaborative team. - Establish relationships across sales and other technical groups to support customer and team success. - Engage customer executives on strategic data infrastructure decisions and align technical work with business outcomes. - Guide technical qualification, architecture discussions, validations, and product demonstrations. - Keep the team current on data and AI technologies through ongoing learning and development. - Build external partnerships with systems integrators and software vendors to accelerate customer success. - Work with sales, product, engineering, and customer success teams toward growth targets and effective execution.

Requirements

- Demonstrated experience building and leading technical pre-sales teams, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and developing talent. - Ten or more years in the data field with a technical product, such as data warehousing, big data, machine learning, or generative AI. - Credibility advising technical executives on strategic data infrastructure choices. - Ability to assess complex architectures and guide teams and customers toward scalable solutions. - Experience with consumption-based business models and the factors that support sustained growth. - Strong cross-functional leadership and the technical depth to earn the trust of engineering teams.
