Software Engineer (C++/Java)

Role overview

A market data platform built for modern finance delivers streaming and historical coverage across futures, options, and equities through a unified API. By owning the full market data stack end-to-end, the platform pairs the performance and reliability expected by leading trading firms with a deliberately simple developer experience. This role brings on a mid-level or senior individual contributor for the core engineering team.

Responsibilities

- Own and maintain the Java client library so it stays robust, well-tested, and straightforward for external users to integrate. - Design, develop, and maintain high-performance server applications in C and C++. - Build message parsers and feed handlers that consume direct market data feeds from trading venues. - Push the codebase toward higher throughput (millions of messages per second, up to 40+ gigabits) and nanosecond-level latency, and develop supporting tools for petabyte-scale data processing and analysis. - Partner with the systems team on build, deployment, and CI/CD practices, application monitoring, and uptime. - Coordinate smooth feature rollouts and updates.

Requirements

- 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience, ideally at a trading firm, tech company, or high-growth startup. - Strong proficiency in both C/C++ and Java. - Solid grasp of systems programming: algorithms, data structures, multithreading, networked I/O, serialization, CPU architecture, kernels, and compilers. - Experience designing intuitive, developer-friendly APIs and familiarity with open source practices such as release management, versioning, changelogs, issue triage, and backwards compatibility. - Comfort working in multiprocess environments and using debuggers such as lldb or gdb. - Clear communication and self-direction suited to a remote workplace, plus an interest in low-level optimization, performance engineering, financial data, or algorithmic trading.
