About this role
Role overview Act as the primary technical bridge between electrical design teams and on-site construction partners during the build phase of large-scale data center campus projects. The role focuses on the safe, accurate, and efficient installation of high-capacity power distribution systems that support demanding AI workloads, carrying projects through commissioning and operational handover.
Responsibilities - Support on-site installation, quality assurance, functional checkout, testing, and commissioning of critical electrical infrastructure including medium- and low-voltage switchgear, power transformers, switchboards, protection and control, UPS systems, and internal data center electrical equipment. - Monitor deployment of advanced power backup and conditioning systems such as medium-voltage UPS, backup generators, and battery energy storage systems. - Provide technical support for RFI processes, temporary power, electrical switching, and substation protection system management. - Track construction progress against project milestones and ensure adherence to basis of design and engineering specifications. - Drive rapid resolution of RFIs and Field Engineering Directives between contractors and the internal design team, and feed lessons learned back into specs and templates. - Support all commissioning levels in partnership with the internal Cx team and serve as an electrical safety champion alongside construction partners.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. - 5+ years of experience in mission-critical environments supporting construction and/or operations. - Deep practical understanding of electrical power distribution equipment assembly and installation. - Hands-on experience with on-site construction and partnering with third-party general contractors and electrical subcontractors. - Strong project management skills to monitor schedules, spot bottlenecks, and drive on-time completion. - Ability to troubleshoot complex field installation issues and implement practical, code-compliant solutions. - Flexibility to travel frequently or reside near an assigned project site, with a minimum of 50% of time on site, plus 24/7 on-call support for emergencies at the assigned campus.
Nice to have - Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification. - Direct experience overseeing installation of high-density racks and their accompanying electrical infrastructure. - Mega-project construction experience in mission-critical or heavy industry settings. - PMP, OSHA 30, or equivalent safety credentials.
