Head of Data Practitioner

Role overview A fully remote Head of Data role based anywhere in Europe, leading complex data engagements for private equity investors and portfolio companies. The position owns senior client relationships, shapes data strategy, leads large-scale transformations, and turns data opportunities into measurable business outcomes from strategic diagnosis through to practical delivery.

Responsibilities - Own senior client relationships on data engagements, acting as a credible advisor to CDOs, CTOs, and executive teams. - Lead development of data strategies aligning business priorities, value-creation opportunities, capabilities, technology choices, and delivery roadmaps. - Direct complex data transformations including platform modernisation, governance, quality, data products, and analytics initiatives. - Bring structure to ambiguous challenges by defining key questions, building workplans, managing workstreams, and keeping teams focused. - Synthesise analysis and stakeholder input into compelling executive-level narratives and practical recommendations. - Translate between commercial and technical audiences, linking initiatives to value-creation economics and business cases. - Challenge assumptions, pressure-test recommendations, and identify where deeper specialist expertise is needed.

Requirements - Experience at a level comparable to a senior consulting Director or Associate Director, leading complex data engagements. - Consulting toolkit ideally developed at a leading strategy, digital, data, or transformation consultancy. - Deep expertise in data strategy and transformation, including modern data platforms, architecture, governance, quality, data products, analytics, or AI enablement. - Proven ability to impose structure on ambiguous problems, lead rigorous analysis, and translate findings into executive storylines. - Credibility with senior executives including CDOs, CTOs, CIOs, and CEOs. - Strong commercial acumen, including opportunity sizing, business case development, and trade-off evaluation. - A hands-on leadership style comfortable shaping strategy personally while guiding analysis and team thinking.

Nice to have - Sufficient technical depth to challenge decisions on data architecture, platforms, governance, operating models, and delivery approaches.
