Senior AI Engineer

Role overview Design and operate AI systems that help deliver clinical intelligence across healthcare workflows. This senior engineering role spans retrieval architecture, agent development, evaluation, and production operations, with close collaboration across engineering, product, data science, and clinical teams. Systems must meet healthcare privacy and security expectations while serving real-world users at scale.

Responsibilities - Develop, evaluate, and deploy AI-powered agents and applications. - Design data and retrieval architectures that provide agents with relevant context from varied healthcare sources. - Write and review production-quality code, lead releases and deployments, and provide on-call support. - Work with product, machine-learning and data-science teams, and architects to translate requirements into reliable systems. - Apply healthcare privacy and security controls, including compliance with HIPAA and relevant industry practices. - Contribute to sprint planning, delivery, and retrospectives, aligning engineering work with product priorities.

Requirements - At least five years of software development lifecycle experience, including work with language models and agent frameworks. - Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages. - Experience with a cloud platform, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools. - Practical experience with AI architectures, multi-agent systems, retrieval-augmented generation, and evaluation frameworks. - Experience shaping engineering standards, frameworks, or libraries adopted by multiple teams. - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have - Familiarity with human review in AI systems and production AI safety considerations. - Experience with graph-based or multimodal retrieval for AI reasoning.

Benefits and work setup - Remote-first, with approximately 5% travel; occasional trips to Boston may be needed for onboarding, team meetings, or events. - Listed annual salary range is $135,000–$170,000.
