Multiple roles in AI x Global Health and Wellbeing

Role overview A philanthropic funder is building a new AI x Global Health and Wellbeing team to direct significant grantmaking at the intersection of artificial intelligence and health outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. Open positions include Associate Program Officer and Research Fellow roles, where hires will help shape funding strategy across scientific research, policy advocacy, and global health and development.

Responsibilities - Set strategy and conduct research to identify the most promising approaches at the intersection of AI and global health and wellbeing. - Evaluate grant opportunities aimed at mitigating noncatastrophic but serious risks from transformative AI to global health and economic wellbeing. - Identify and support AI-enabled solutions that can improve health and economic outcomes globally and scale them effectively. - Prepare written analyses, grant recommendations, and follow-up assessments for internal decision-makers and donor partners. - Engage with researchers, policymakers, implementers, and other funders to build a high-leverage portfolio.

Requirements - Demonstrated ability to do rigorous analytical or research work, ideally related to AI, global health, development economics, or a closely related field. - Strong written communication skills and comfort producing clear, decision-ready briefs. - Judgment to triage many possible funding avenues and prioritize for impact. - Track record of working independently and collaboratively in remote, mission-driven environments.

Nice to have - Prior experience in grantmaking, philanthropy, policy, public health, or technology research. - Familiarity with the landscape of AI governance, biosecurity, or global health R&D. - Existing network among researchers or practitioners working on AI in low- and middle-income countries.
