Cloud Security Engineer (ClearDATA)

Role overview

A digital health technology company is hiring a Cloud Security Engineer to design, build, and secure its cloud infrastructure from the ground up. Reporting to the Director of IT and Information Security, this role embeds infrastructure-as-code security controls, automated compliance scanning, and configuration hardening directly into cloud environments while partnering closely with engineering leadership.

Responsibilities

- Monitor and analyze cloud-specific threat landscapes, proactively identifying and mitigating risks from public cloud misconfigurations. - Maintain cloud security posture by triaging alerts from CSPM and cloud-native tools and conducting forensic investigations. - Partner with DevOps to embed automated security monitoring, alerting, and compliance checks directly into the CI/CD pipeline using infrastructure-as-code. - Architect secure, scalable cloud systems and act as the primary technical owner of the cloud security domain. - Support DLP, SaaS risk management, and hardening initiatives across the cloud ecosystem. - Document standards, mentor less experienced engineers, and communicate security concerns to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

- 5 to 8+ years of dedicated security engineering experience with a strong focus on AWS security, cloud-native architecture, and DevSecOps. - Demonstrated experience building security infrastructure from the ground up and serving as the primary architect of the security domain. - Proven track record implementing CSPM and CWPP tooling and embedding automated security controls into CI/CD pipelines. - Proficiency in Python, Terraform, and containerization strategies such as Kubernetes and Docker. - Strong understanding of SaaS risk management, hardening processes, and DLP implementations. - Startup experience plus excellent verbal and written communication skills for working across internal stakeholders.

Nice to have

- CISSP, CNAPP, or related certifications. - Hands-on experience with CSPM tools such as Wiz, Orca, or the AWS security tool suite. - Tuning and operating SIEM and event management platforms. - Background in the digital healthcare industry.

Benefits and work setup

- Base salary of $120,000 to $135,000, plus a 10% target annual bonus, with final pay determined by location, experience, skills, and internal equity. - Higher compensation ranges apply to candidates in higher-cost labor markets including California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Washington, DC. - Mostly remote work with access to offices in several U.S. cities and one European location, and occasional travel for team or cross-functional meetings. - Additional total rewards include stock options, paid benefits, and employee perks.
