Senior Software Engineer

Role overview Build and ship product features used by local governments to manage permitting, licensing, plan reviews, inspections, and related services. You’ll work in a small, experienced product engineering team that uses AI coding agents throughout development; the engineer remains responsible for the correctness, security, performance, and usability of the finished work.

Responsibilities - Take features from specification through production release and own their end-to-end quality. - Write clear specifications and acceptance criteria, then direct coding agents and review their output critically. - Test implementations and ensure you understand the code and behavior before release. - Design for the needs of government staff and residents who rely on the software. - Share lessons from delivery to improve the team’s agent workflows and engineering practices.

Requirements - Senior-level product engineering experience and ability to deliver features independently. - Strong judgment in reviewing, testing, and taking responsibility for AI-generated code. - Ability to maintain high standards for correctness, performance, security, and user experience. - Clear written communication for specifications and acceptance criteria. - Eligibility to work in Canada or the United States. - Professional experience using AI tools, or the ability to describe your AI fluency and its impact on your work.
