Linux Kernel Development Engineer - Live Patching

Role overview A senior engineering position focused on building and maintaining the Linux kernel for an enterprise Linux distribution. The role centers on kernel live patching infrastructure, low-level systems programming, and cross-team collaboration to deliver reliable, high-performance operating-system components for demanding workloads.

Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain Linux kernel components, with a focus on live patching infrastructure, tooling, and automation. - Debug and resolve complex kernel-level issues spanning memory management, process scheduling, and inter-process communication. - Gather requirements from cross-functional stakeholders and translate them into efficient, scalable kernel designs. - Conduct performance analysis and optimization of kernel components against defined targets. - Review code from peers, provide constructive feedback, and document design decisions, APIs, and processes. - Mentor junior developers and stay current with upstream kernel advancements, evaluating their relevance to internal products.

Requirements - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. - At least 5 years of hands-on Linux kernel development, including system-level programming and device driver work. - Strong proficiency in C and deep familiarity with Linux kernel internals, file systems, kernel modules, and live patching tooling such as kpatch. - Solid understanding of hardware architectures including x86 and ARM and how they interact with the kernel. - Experience with Git-based collaborative workflows and modern version control practices.

Nice to have - Familiarity with embedded and virtualization environments. - Background contributing to or tracking upstream Linux kernel communities.
