Software Engineer, Infrastructure

Role overview

A financial technology company is hiring a Software Engineer to join its Core Infrastructure team, which manages the AWS, networking, Kubernetes, Terraform, and observability layers that power the platform. The team is responsible for cloud operations, the observability stack, and the compute layer, and writes internal tooling in Ruby on Rails and Go to enable self-service across the engineering organization. The role partners closely with product engineers to deliver reliable, modern services for members.

Responsibilities

- Automate scaling, monitoring, and operations across the core infrastructure stack - Build internal tooling in Ruby on Rails and Go to enable self-service for engineering teams - Design, build, and support cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code and automation - Adapt new technologies to improve the efficiency and reliability of the platform - Partner with product development engineers to build services following modern design patterns such as the 12 Factor App methodology - Build strong working relationships with engineers and managers based on trust, empathy, and technical expertise - Advocate for and adopt AI tools, helping to evangelize safe and reliable agentic workflows

Requirements

- 2+ years of cloud and infrastructure experience - Strong development experience in Ruby on Rails and Go - Prior experience in a DevOps, SRE, or production engineering role supporting customer-facing web services - Experience managing Kubernetes clusters, whether cloud-hosted or self-hosted - Experience building and operating highly available public cloud infrastructure with attention to stability, scalability, and security - Experience using configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform - Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms - Collaborative mindset, positive attitude, and customer focus

Nice to have

- Hands-on experience with AWS services, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Datadog, or Terraform - Experience supporting relational or NoSQL databases, message buses, and caching services
