About this role

Role overview This position centers on building and running performance testing programs alongside automated test frameworks for web, API, and backend systems. The role blends deep technical engineering with quality assurance, evaluating application reliability, scalability, and responsiveness under varying load conditions before shifting into broader SDET responsibilities once performance practices mature. It suits someone who combines testing expertise with strong programming skills and a collaborative, analysis-driven mindset.

Responsibilities - Define and execute comprehensive test strategies covering functional automation, load, stress, endurance, spike, and scalability scenarios. - Establish performance baselines and analyze trends over time to surface regressions and capacity risks. - Collect and interpret metrics such as CPU, memory, throughput, response time, latency, and error rates. - Identify system bottlenecks and root causes through profiling and diagnostics, partnering closely with engineering teams on fixes. - Build and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks for web, API, and backend systems, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines. - Perform code reviews for test code, develop utilities that expand coverage, and contribute to defect tracking and agile ceremonies.

Requirements - 3+ years in software testing with demonstrated experience in both automation and performance testing. - Hands-on experience with k6 as a primary performance testing tool. - Hands-on experience with Playwright for automation (Cypress or Selenium also considered). - Proficiency in one or more of Python, Java, TypeScript, or JavaScript. - Experience testing APIs using tools such as Postman or REST-assured, plus familiarity with CI/CD platforms and repository management. - Solid grasp of QA methodologies, manual test case design (preferably in Zephyr), and analytical problem-solving.

Nice to have - Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). - Understanding of infrastructure as code (for example Terraform) and version control systems. - Strong grasp of white-box testing techniques and system-level architectural dependencies.

Benefits and work setup - Competitive medical benefits with PPO and HSA options, plus vision, dental, and short-term disability coverage. - Unlimited PTO, paid holidays, and a flexible work schedule in a remote environment with a remote work stipend. - Equal paid parental leave, 401k with employer matching, and a quarterly wellness reimbursement.
