About this role

Role overview

Provide advanced power-systems engineering and modeling expertise for projects that help organizations decarbonize their electricity use and infrastructure. The role sits at the intersection of transmission planning, power-market economics, predictive analytics, and client advisory work, translating technically rigorous analysis into practical recommendations for both technical and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

- Design and evaluate electrical systems supporting electrification, grid integration, power electronics, storage, and other low-carbon technologies. - Develop and maintain transmission-planning, reliability, integrated-system-planning, and renewable-integration studies tailored to client needs. - Complement production-cost modeling with analysis of system operations, market outcomes, and grid constraints. - Perform technical due diligence on electrical infrastructure, energy-storage projects, industrial-electrification proposals, and related technologies. - Convert complex models and engineering findings into clear reports, presentations, and actionable recommendations. - Collaborate with engineers, scientists, policy specialists, business-development teams, and other technical groups. - Contribute to technical publications, external communications, and reusable modeling capabilities for grid modernization and climate-technology work.

Requirements

- Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and experience leading or managing internal or external clients in the electric-power sector. - Proficiency with transmission analysis, including N-1 reliability, SCUC, SCED, AC/DC power flow, congestion management, capacity planning, and steady-state or dynamic network modeling. - Experience with industry tools such as PSS/E, PowerWorld, or PSCAD, plus familiarity with production-cost platforms such as PyPSA, PROMOD, Plexos, or AURORA. - Deep knowledge of wholesale electricity markets or grid operations in North America and/or Europe, including market rules, ISOs/RTOs, capacity markets, resource adequacy, and reliability standards. - Several years of multidisciplinary collaboration and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

- Statistical modeling, forecasting, and data-analysis experience using Python, R, MATLAB, or similar tools. - Experience with storage, geothermal, distributed energy resources, microgrids, electric vehicles, building electrification, or industrial decarbonization. - Familiarity with greenhouse-gas accounting, energy policy, carbon markets, regulatory proceedings, natural-gas markets, or power-market design. - Professional engineering licensure, advanced credentials, or published technical work in grid modeling, electrification, or modernization.

Benefits and work setup

- Salary range of $133,000–$195,000 per year. - Remote-friendly work culture with company retreats, work-from-home equipment reimbursement, and a monthly home-office stipend. - U.S. medical, dental, and vision coverage; flexible vacation; company holidays and winter break; and 16 weeks of fully paid parental and family leave.
