Role overview A backend-focused software developer position supports US federal agency modernization efforts, building secure and scalable applications and APIs in an agile, mission-driven environment. The role spans the full software lifecycle, from translating requirements into technical designs through coding, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. Candidates must be US citizens eligible to obtain Public Trust clearance.
Responsibilities - Design, build, test, and maintain scalable software applications and backend services. - Develop REST and GraphQL APIs and integrate them with upstream and downstream systems. - Implement data flows using MySQL and PostgreSQL alongside application integrations. - Collaborate with engineering, DevSecOps, infrastructure, and product teams in an agile delivery model. - Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, cloud adoption, and broader application modernization. - Troubleshoot issues across development, testing, and production environments and participate in code reviews.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience. - 2+ years of professional software development experience. - Strong hands-on skills with Java, Groovy, Spring Boot, and OpenJDK. - Experience building REST and GraphQL APIs and working with MySQL and PostgreSQL. - Familiarity with microservices, distributed systems, version control, automated testing, and CI/CD. - Working knowledge of AWS or Azure and modern secure software delivery practices.
Nice to have - Frontend experience with Angular, React, TypeScript, or JavaScript. - Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, serverless, or other cloud-native development approaches. - Familiarity with event-driven architectures, Zero Trust patterns, or IAM integrations. - Prior work supporting federal government agencies.
