Principal SAP Retail POS Consultant

Role overview Serve as the senior point of expertise for retail point-of-sale design in large SAP S/4HANA implementations supporting military exchange and other non-appropriated-fund retail operations. The role connects business needs with SAP Retail and Customer Activity Repository (CAR) solutions, covering store, online, inventory, payment, and financial processes across a global retail network.

Responsibilities - Shape retail structures for stores, distribution centers, and e-commerce, including specialized locations such as ship stores. - Design sales and payment flows for scenarios such as tax-free transactions, store cards, gift cards, and layaway. - Advise on inventory and replenishment practices, including direct store delivery, cross-docking, and worldwide allocation. - Lead fit-to-standard workshops on merchandising, pricing, promotions, and loss prevention, mapping business rules to SAP Retail. - Guide integrations among S/4HANA, CAR, e-commerce, warehouse systems, and payment processors; oversee retail master data and legacy data conversion. - Support accurate sales and margin reporting, financial close, transaction audit trails, and clear communication of system designs to business and technical leaders.

Requirements - A bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience. - At least eight years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or ten years without one, including large-scale retail systems experience; SAP Retail, CAR, or S/4HANA for Retail is preferred. - Deep understanding of merchandising, store operations, and supply chain in a multichannel retail setting, with a track record delivering major system implementations. - Knowledge of retail finance, including margin analysis, inventory valuation, and sales auditing. - Strong communication skills for presenting complex system designs to business leaders and executives. - An industry-recognized certification in S/4HANA Retail, SAP CAR, or a related SAP Retail area; U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain an active government clearance are required.

Nice to have - Experience with military exchange or federal retail operations, including the Military STAR Card. - Familiarity with SAP POS Data Management, Omnichannel Promotion Pricing, SAP Commerce, or SAP Activate. - A related master’s degree.
