Role overview

A fully remote position on the finance team, supporting a cloud-based learning platform business through accurate recordkeeping, financial analysis, and reporting. The role reports into the Controller and is well suited to a self-starter who enjoys improving processes and partnering with departments across the organization.

Responsibilities

- Own core accounting workflows including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and billing - Analyze company expenditures, confirm proper expense allocation across departments, and communicate findings back to budget owners - Review transactions to confirm correct accounting treatment under GAAP and internal policies, including revenue recognition - Review general ledger accounts and post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals - Help build financial statements and perform budget variance analysis - Prepare year-end schedules for annual tax returns and look for ways to improve accounting procedures

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred - 3-5 years of experience for Staff level or 5-8 years for Senior level in accounting or auditing, with public accounting experience a plus - Strong working knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and organizational ability - Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and prior experience with accounting platforms such as NetSuite, Intacct, or QuickBooks
