Role overview This position sits within the accounting function of a cloud-based learning platform organization, reporting to the Controller and supporting growing finance operations. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, analyzing data, and ensuring regulatory compliance while contributing to budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements.

Responsibilities - Manage the core accounting cycle, including account reconciliations, journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and billing activities - Review company expenditures and confirm proper expense allocation across departments, reporting findings to relevant teams - Review transactions to confirm accounting treatment aligns with GAAP and internal policies - Analyze billing transactions to confirm proper application of revenue recognition policies - Review general ledger accounts and post required journal entries, including monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals - Assist with financial statement preparation, including balance sheet, income statement, and budget variance analysis - Support budget design and preparation for management review, and prepare year-end schedules for annual tax returns - Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and procedures

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred - 3-5 years of experience for Staff-level, or 5-8 years for Senior-level, in accounting or auditing; public accounting background preferred - Thorough knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition - Strong written and verbal communication, with ability to explain financial information across the organization - Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel - Hands-on experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Intacct, or QuickBooks strongly preferred - Self-starter with sharp analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational ability, and capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment
