Job details
About this role
Role overview
A senior solutions engineer role focused on API management and digital ecosystem strategy for enterprise clients across North America. The position acts as a principal architect, helping organizations move from fragmented connectivity to a unified, governed data ecosystem that bridges back-end integration with front-end API consumption. It is a strategic, customer-facing technical leadership role that sits at the intersection of sales, architecture, and platform engineering.
Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive API strategies spanning the full lifecycle, from design and documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger) through security policy enforcement to retirement. - Consult with C-level executives and enterprise architects on the ROI of an API-first approach, emphasizing security, scalability, and the productization of data assets. - Serve as the subject matter expert on enterprise security protocols (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT) and ensure gateway solutions meet corporate compliance and governance standards. - Architect and demonstrate developer portals that enable discovery and consumption of internal and external APIs across the customer's ecosystem. - Coordinate cross-functional teams to lead high-stakes proof-of-concept engagements and deliver authoritative responses to complex RFI/RFP technical requirements. - Articulate how API management, iPaaS, and master data management intersect, ensuring APIs serve as the secure delivery mechanism for orchestrated ETL and MDM data flows.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in API lifecycle management and the deployment of high-performance API gateways in complex, distributed environments. - Deep proficiency in modern identity providers and security frameworks, with a clear approach to mitigating risk at the network edge. - Proven ability to design solutions that incorporate microservices, service mesh, and event-driven architectures. - Track record of consultative selling, driving technical alignment in a sales environment beyond feature-function pitching. - Strong executive-level presentation and influence skills. - Familiarity with data integration patterns (ETL/ELT) and data stewardship principles such as master data management.
Nice to have
- Advanced proficiency in AWS, Azure, or GCP ecosystems and enterprise API suites such as MuleSoft, Apigee, or Kong. - Industry credentials in cloud architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP), information security (CISSP/CCSP), or enterprise frameworks (TOGAF). - Experience with AI-driven APIs and LLM orchestration. - Familiarity with data integration platforms and MDM solutions, and how they feed API-led connectivity strategies.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote-friendly position with compensation determined by location, experience, and skills. - On-target earnings range of $175,512–$219,390 USD, inclusive of commission, with potential eligibility for an annual performance bonus on non-commissioned components.
