About this role
Role overview Establish and run enterprise-level data governance for a federal data management centre supporting veterans' affairs applications and reporting. The role focuses on standardising data definitions, resolving duplicates, and improving metadata quality across a Microsoft-based environment that includes SQL Server, SSRS, Power BI, SharePoint, and Power Apps. It is a full-time position that requires U.S. work eligibility and the ability to obtain a federal Public Trust clearance.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain enterprise data management practices aligned with a CMMI Level 4–5 target operating maturity (no formal appraisal required). - Identify authoritative data sources, standardise definitions, resolve duplicates and conflicts, and address reporting inconsistencies across applications, databases, and reporting tools. - Develop data dictionaries, metadata documentation, stored procedure inventories, and report-to-data-source traceability artefacts. - Support ATO documentation and audits with accurate data-related inputs. - Recommend master data management, data fabric, or metadata-driven approaches that fit a Microsoft-based environment and comply with federal security requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; no equivalencies accepted. - Five or more years of experience in data management, data governance, or data administration. - Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices. - Must be legally authorised to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. - Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure Data Engineering, SQL Server, Power BI, SharePoint, and Power Platform data integration.
