Software Architect (AWS, NodeJS) - Remote, Latin America
Job details
About this role
Role overview This is a senior, remote Software Architect role for a Latin America–based consulting practice, shaping the technical direction of large, low-latency, multi-tenant systems on AWS. The position is ideal for an architect who enjoys defining standards, mentoring engineers, and defending design decisions in front of client engineering and security stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design low-latency, AWS-based service architectures, including when distributed components like queues, caches, and search projections are justified. - Architect to explicit p95/p99 latency budgets, including synchronous durable commits on hot paths, and define fail-open, fail-closed, and degraded-state semantics. - Lead the design of audit and evidence systems using append-only event logs, versioned or bitemporal fact models, and deterministic historical replay. - Architect secure multi-tenant environments, evaluating tradeoffs between Row-Level Security, schema-per-tenant, and database-per-tenant approaches. - Establish technical standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, mentor engineers, and produce ADRs, diagrams, and architecture documentation. - Build capacity models and cloud cost/performance projections aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework, and present/defend decisions in client reviews.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in an architecture-focused role. - Deep expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript across the stack, plus scalable RESTful APIs and SDK integrations. - Strong AWS architecture experience, including PostgreSQL/AuroraDB and Row-Level Security at a data-modeling level. - Experience designing audit/evidence systems and fail-open/fail-closed/degraded-state semantics. - Proven background architecting large, complex systems end-to-end and establishing technical standards. - Bachelor's degree, ability to overlap US business hours, and demonstrated ownership, technical leadership, and meticulous attention to detail.
Nice to have
- Experience in compliance-sensitive or regulated domains such as TCPA/DNC, fintech decisioning, or audit-heavy systems. - Background with event-driven design, message queues, and large-scale caching strategies. - Advanced degree.
Benefits and work setup
- Competitive salary with performance-based increases and bonuses. - Generous paid time off and flexible working hours. - Fully remote position. - Continuing education support, including training, conferences, and sponsored coursework, exams, and certifications.
