Senior Databricks Engineer

Role overview

This senior-level, individual-contributor role focuses on Databricks data engineering during a discovery and architecture engagement with a global management consulting client. The work centers on investigating existing client data and designing end-to-end medallion pipelines (bronze, silver, gold) that hold up to rigorous technical scrutiny. The position carries high technical ownership and involves direct collaboration with a client team that expects substantive engineering pushback.

Responsibilities

- Build and maintain end-to-end Databricks pipelines using bronze, silver, and gold medallion architecture - Write hands-on data engineering code in Python, SQL, and PySpark, including materialized views - Investigate unfamiliar or undocumented client data and report findings to internal and client stakeholders - Participate in technical conversations covering engineering, data modeling, and governance questions - Support "art of the possible" demo work as the engagement progresses into later phases

Requirements

- Hands-on experience building end-to-end Databricks pipelines - Strong Python, SQL, and PySpark skills - Experience implementing materialized views and medallion-layer (bronze/silver/gold) architectures - Ability to investigate unfamiliar data sets independently and communicate findings clearly - Availability for the full engagement arc, up to 26 weeks if the work is extended - Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients and teammates
