Job details
About this role
Role overview This Senior Business Data Analyst role sits at the intersection of business stakeholders and the data products they depend on. The analyst leads client-facing engagements end to end, running discovery with operators and executives, reframing messy questions into structured analytical problems, and delivering dashboards, KPI frameworks, and decision-support tools that actually get adopted. The work is delivered within a builder-led culture that pairs deep SQL and modeling skills with consultant instincts and fluency in modern AI tooling.
Responsibilities - Lead client-facing discovery sessions to elicit, document, and prioritize requirements across operators, analysts, and executives. - Translate ambiguous business problems into data models, dashboards, KPI frameworks, and decision-support tools, plus drive proactive analysis that surfaces trends and opportunities clients did not ask about. - Write production-quality SQL against Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift and build trusted models in dbt or the client's modeling layer. - Build and maintain dashboards in Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, or whichever tool the client uses. - Apply AI tooling, including LLM-based analysis, text-to-SQL, agentic data exploration, and AI-assisted documentation, to compress timelines while raising quality. - Run client communication cadence through status updates, demos, working sessions, and stakeholder reviews, and mentor junior analysts on the engagement.
Requirements - 5+ years as a business, data, BI, or analytics consultant, with at least 2 years client-facing or embedded. - Expert SQL including window functions, CTEs, and performance tuning, with the judgment to sanity-check numbers before anyone else does. - Strong data modeling fundamentals (dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas) and experience with dbt or equivalent transformation tooling. - Hands-on experience with at least one cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift) and at least one modern BI tool (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, or Mode). - Demonstrated ability to lead client conversations, run requirements workshops, push back constructively, and align stakeholders with competing priorities. - Working fluency with AI tools for analytical work and a clear view on where they help versus where they introduce risk.
Nice to have - Domain experience in commercial real estate, financial services, healthcare technology, or insurance. - Python for analytical workflows, experience scoping or pricing analytics work, familiarity with data quality or observability tooling, and exposure to AI-native analytics platforms such as text-to-SQL or semantic layers.
Benefits and work setup - Base salary of $130,000 to $160,000 plus performance bonuses, comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits, and a 401(k) with company match. - Professional development budget and certification support, plus direct access to Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, GCP, and Azure. - Flexible remote work environment with a collaborative, high-talent team.
