Senior Engineer, Constellation Systems

Role overview A senior engineering role on a distributed Constellation Modeling and Analysis team supporting a space-based intelligence platform that delivers satellite imagery and analytics to defense, intelligence, and commercial customers. The work centers on modeling, simulating, and improving the performance of an active satellite constellation across launch planning, revisit, and mission design scenarios.

Responsibilities - Develop and expand internal tools, methods, and processes for constellation orbit design, including launch planning and revisit specifications. - Support constellation design trade studies and contribute subject matter expertise in orbital mechanics. - Build analysis scenarios and configurations that quantify operational impact against specific mission requirements. - Improve modeling and automation tooling to produce performance metrics for internal trade studies, programs, and proposals. - Document and present analysis results, highlighting key findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Contribute to internal analysis products, constellation performance demos, and team training.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (aerospace, mechanical, software, or similar), physics, or a related field. - Minimum 5 years of relevant technical experience. - Familiarity with spacecraft systems, concepts of operations, satellite constellations, or modeling and simulation. - Independent work style with the ability to manage multiple efforts in parallel. - Programming ability in Python and/or C++. - Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have - Experience collaborating across multiple time zones. - Background in remote sensing topics. - Demonstrated project work with Python, JIRA, and Git (or equivalents).

Benefits and work setup - Remote-friendly role; candidates in the Seattle, WA metro should expect a targeted base salary of approximately $135,000-$150,000, with the actual offer dependent on background and experience.
