About this role
Role overview
An Engineering Manager is needed to lead a high-performing team building and scaling consumer financial products used by millions of people across Southeast Asia. The position calls for a hands-on technical leader who can set a high engineering bar while still keeping delivery focused on real customer and business outcomes. Success means being equally comfortable making architecture decisions, coaching engineers, and driving products from idea through production.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of engineers spanning frontend, backend, and full stack disciplines. - Own engineering delivery for major product areas, shipping quickly without sacrificing reliability or technical quality. - Partner with product, design, mobile, backend, and AI teams to translate ambiguous problems into clear technical execution. - Drive architecture and engineering decisions across APIs, databases, integrations, infrastructure, and customer-facing systems. - Set standards for code quality, system design, testing, observability, security, and production reliability. - Stay close to the technical work through architecture reviews, code reviews, and debugging of complex production issues. - Coach engineers through regular feedback, performance management, and clear expectations. - Improve engineering processes, tooling, and automation so the team can move faster at scale. - Own production outcomes after release: monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, and preventing repeat issues.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background with experience building and shipping real production systems. - Prior experience leading or managing software engineers and owning engineering delivery. - Deep technical breadth across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure. - Ability to make sound architecture trade-offs balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability. - Track record of taking products or systems from idea through development, launch, and production. - Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, performance management, and building high-performing teams. - Product sense and the ability to connect engineering decisions to customer and business outcomes. - Comfort working fast amid ambiguity, setting priorities, and driving teams toward clear outcomes. - Ownership mentality: when something breaks or delivery slips, take responsibility for getting it back on track.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote role hiring globally, with colleagues distributed across multiple countries and time zones. - English is the primary working language; strong English communication is required. - Fast-track interview process (online assessment, technical and leadership interview, final round) designed to extend an offer within roughly one week for strong candidates.
