Role overview
This position calls for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a distributed software team building and scaling consumer financial products, including a travel-focused foreign exchange application used by millions across Southeast Asia. The role sits at the intersection of people leadership and deep technical execution, expecting the manager to set a high engineering bar while driving rapid, reliable delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of frontend, backend, and full stack engineers, conducting regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews. - Own end-to-end engineering delivery for major product surfaces, balancing release speed with reliability and code quality. - Partner with product, design, mobile, backend, and AI counterparts to translate ambiguous customer problems into clear technical plans. - Drive architecture decisions spanning APIs, databases, third-party integrations, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing systems. - Establish and uphold engineering standards for testing, observability, security, and production resilience, including incident response and root cause analysis. - Improve processes, tooling, and automation so the team can ship and operate at scale.
Requirements
- Proven software engineering background with experience building and shipping real production systems. - Prior experience leading engineers and being accountable for delivery outcomes. - Deep technical breadth across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure. - Track record of taking products from concept through launch and into stable production operation. - Comfort reviewing designs, challenging technical decisions, and debugging complex production issues. - Strong product sense, ownership mentality, and ability to operate effectively with ambiguity in a fast-moving environment.

- Experience in financial services, payments, foreign exchange, or other regulated consumer products. - Familiarity with mobile-first product development and high-traffic regional platforms.
