Senior Software Engineer (Java Backend)

Role overview Build and evolve backend services that turn large, complex data streams into useful actions across paid search, social, and retail media. This senior engineering role focuses on Java application development, scalable REST APIs, and database performance, while contributing to broader architecture improvements.

Responsibilities - Develop reliable, efficient backend applications primarily in Java. - Design, build, document, and use REST APIs for internal services, frontend applications, and external integrations. - Write and tune SQL queries to support data integrity and high throughput in relational databases. - Use Git and GitHub for collaborative development, including branching, merging, and code reviews. - Help modernize and scale services to improve system performance.

Requirements - At least five years of professional software development experience, including hands-on work with enterprise Java applications. - Strong SQL skills and relational database design experience with a major database system such as MySQL. - Professional experience building and consuming REST services. - Practical knowledge of Git and GitHub workflows, including resolving merge conflicts. - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field.

Nice to have - Experience deploying, managing, or monitoring services in a cloud environment such as GCP. - Familiarity with data tools such as BigQuery and dbt. - Experience moving legacy Java, Tomcat, and MySQL systems to cloud-based architectures. - Familiarity with AI coding or productivity tools.
