About this role

Role overview This is a player-coach role for a healthcare-focused AI leader, embedded with the team that builds an electronic health record platform used by college and university health and counseling clinics across the United States. The position pairs personal, hands-on building of AI features with roadmap influence, client engagement, and team coaching. It is remote within the United States and is not a fit for someone who only directs others to do the technical work.

Responsibilities - Partner with the product manager to shape the AI roadmap, contributing deep technical and clinical-domain expertise to prioritization decisions. - Translate provider pain points, EHR workflow gaps, and healthcare data challenges into well-scoped AI product proposals, and establish evaluation frameworks for clinical utility and adoption. - Serve as a senior point of contact for strategic client conversations about AI capabilities, lead discovery with health-center leaders and clinicians, and partner with Customer Success and Sales to turn feedback into requirements. - Personally design and build AI features, writing production-quality code for LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, vector search, and supporting data workflows. - Own end-to-end AI system architecture, from data ingestion and retrieval design through API contracts, deployment, and HIPAA-compliant operations at scale. - Coach engineers and product teammates through code review, pairing, and direct feedback, and stand up a trustworthy review process for internally created AI tools.

Requirements - Must currently reside in the United States and be authorized to work without visa sponsorship, now or in the future. - Substantive healthcare IT background, ideally including time working with or inside an EHR environment. - Working knowledge of healthcare data standards such as HL7 v2, FHIR (R4 preferred), CCD/CCDA, and common interoperability patterns, plus familiarity with clinical workflow design. - Direct experience navigating HIPAA compliance, PHI handling, de-identification, and related privacy constraints in regulated healthcare systems. - 6+ years in product engineering, technical product management, or a hands-on hybrid B2B SaaS role, including at least 3 years personally building AI or ML-powered features in production.

Nice to have - Exposure to college health, student health, or behavioral health contexts.

Benefits and work setup - Remote within the USA. Expected base salary of $120,000–$145,000 USD, excluding any annual bonus, with final offer varying by experience and market.
