About this role
Role overview An early-career Site Reliability Engineering position focused on building and operating reliable, scalable cloud-native services for mission-critical workloads. The role is fully remote within Australia and involves hands-on contribution to platform tooling, incident response, and operational excellence, with mentoring from senior engineers.
Responsibilities - Contribute to building and maintaining reliable, scalable, and secure cloud platforms and tooling - Apply SRE principles to improve stability and performance of cloud-native services - Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code - Troubleshoot and debug issues in distributed cloud-native systems - Collaborate with engineering teams to support service reliability and operational excellence - Create and maintain documentation that improves self-service capabilities for engineers - Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, learning best practices along the way - Grow technical skills under senior mentorship while contributing to team knowledge sharing
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field - Approximately one year of experience in a software engineering, SRE, or infrastructure role - Australian citizenship or the ability to obtain Australian government security clearance - Solid understanding of operating systems, preferably Linux - Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or similar - Experience with Kubernetes platforms such as AKS, EKS, or comparable - Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, C#, or Java - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation practices - Exposure to observability tooling across logging, metrics, and APM - Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code concepts such as Terraform or ARM templates - Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn - Good communication and collaboration skills - Exposure to AI-assisted development tools
