Job details
About this role
Role overview A full stack software engineering role building and scaling the systems behind audience-facing media products and publishing tools. The position pairs traditional product-engineering fundamentals with AI-native development practices, owning features end to end while remaining accountable for architecture, quality, security, and outcomes.
Responsibilities - Own features across the frontend, APIs, business logic, data layer, testing, and production systems, using AI agents thoughtfully across research, prototyping, implementation, testing, refactoring, and documentation. - Build accessible, responsive interfaces with JavaScript or TypeScript, React, and modern web frameworks such as Next.js. - Develop production services and APIs that support publishing workflows, with clear contracts usable by people, applications, and AI-powered tools. - Identify opportunities where models, agents, retrieval, or intelligent automation can deliver meaningful value, and build those capabilities with appropriate user controls and guardrails. - Write automated tests, improve performance, and contribute to logging, metrics, tracing, security, and operational reliability. - Partner with product, design, quality engineering, and other developers through code reviews, pairing, onboarding, and mentorship.
Requirements - 2-5+ years of professional software development experience with production experience in frontend, backend, or full stack work. - Hands-on experience using agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or comparable tools for meaningful, multi-step software work. - Ability to write clear specifications and acceptance criteria, scope work appropriately, decide what to delegate to an agent, and guide it when its approach is incomplete. - Frontend experience building production interfaces with JavaScript or TypeScript and React, preferably with Next.js or a comparable modern framework. - Backend experience building production services and APIs. - Strong verification skills, including the ability to review AI-generated code critically and recognize when an agent-produced solution is plausible but wrong.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-optional posting within the United States, with a salary range that accounts for labor differentials across locations. - 401(k) with employer match, PPO and high-deductible health plan options on a national network with an employer HSA contribution, plus dental and vision coverage. - 12 weeks of paid primary caregiver leave, with 6-8 additional weeks for birth-givers depending on delivery type. - Generous vacation plus holidays, one mental health day per quarter, annual learning and development stipend, and a $100 monthly work-from-home stipend. - Tele-mental health services, primary care membership, health advocacy resources, inclusive fertility and family-forming benefits, and access to an employee hardship fund. - Increased flexibility for parents and caretakers, virtual company-sponsored social events, and a commitment to an open, inclusive, and diverse work culture.
