Forward Deployed Engineer - US East Coast
Job details
About this role
Role overview Help shape how a fast-growing workflow automation platform turns its largest enterprise customers into long-term, referenceable success stories. This is a founding deployment engineering role focused on embedding with strategic customers, building production-grade automations, and turning what you learn into reusable product capabilities.
Responsibilities - Run focused, on-site customer engagements that move from initial hypothesis to working production workflows within tight timeframes. - Design and build custom workflows, integrations, and nodes tailored to each customer environment while keeping solutions scalable beyond the initial use case. - Partner with deployment strategists and account stakeholders to align technical execution with business priorities and adoption goals. - Translate ambiguous operational problems into clean, practical automation designs that prioritize real customer value over technical complexity. - Identify when a one-off customer requirement should become a reusable node improvement, product feature, or platform capability. - Document technical gaps, customer context, and implementation learnings, and feed them into an internal playbook library and product roadmap.
Requirements - Solid full-stack or backend engineering experience, including building integrations, APIs, or automation pipelines in production. - Ability to create custom nodes, extend existing integrations, and work confidently with APIs, authentication patterns, data models, and event-driven systems. - Comfort working directly in customer environments and building trust with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Strong solution design and technical judgment: knowing when to build, simplify, or push back to avoid over-engineering. - Willingness to travel roughly 50-60% of the time for on-site engagements. - Speed to productivity in unfamiliar industries, tech stacks, and customer environments.
Nice to have - Familiarity with workflow automation tools. - Prior experience with strategic enterprise accounts in complex technical settings. - Background building custom nodes, connectors, plugins, SDKs, or reusable integration frameworks. - Previous forward deployed, solutions engineering, or similar customer-facing engineering experience. - Track record of turning customer learnings into product feedback or engineering specifications.
Benefits and work setup Remote-first culture with regular team off-sites, equity participation, an annual learning budget, generous time off, parental leave, and company-sponsored health, dental, and vision coverage. Roles supporting US sales may follow a hybrid model.
