Role overview
This co-op term (starting January 2027) places a full-stack engineer inside a small, product-driven mobile game studio that has operated profitably since 2009. The team builds and runs massively multiplayer online games, and the co-op will contribute to both client and server code that reaches millions of players.
Responsibilities
- Implement features, systems, and tools for live mobile games, contributing to both Unity or native iOS/Android client code and a Django + MySQL server stack - Participate across the full product lifecycle, from design and implementation to playtests and metrics analysis - Build internal tooling that automates and optimizes workflows for community, design, and art teams - Help maintain deployment systems that let non-engineers ship to the distributed backend with confidence - Collaborate directly with artists and designers to grow existing titles
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program during the winter 2027 term - Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms - Comfort working as a full-stack generalist across both client and server implementations - Clear written and verbal communication, including expressing ideas in code - Genuine interest in playing mobile games
Nice to have
- Exposure to Django, MySQL, Unity, or native iOS/Android development - Familiarity with metrics, funnels, retention experiments, or A/B testing - Interest in data pipelines, visualizations, or marketing analytics
Benefits and work setup
- Compensation of $6,667 per month - Fully remote within Canada, with core hours of 11am–4pm PST - Interview process includes a resume and screening review, two back-to-back 30-minute technical interviews, and a 30-minute team fit conversation
