About this role
Role overview Design the electrical systems behind ruggedized, modular, containerized data centers that bring high-density AI compute to nontraditional locations. This is a hands-on design role covering single-line diagrams through commissioning, vendor submittal reviews, and direct support to manufacturing partners and field crews across multiple time zones.
Responsibilities - Develop and maintain electrical designs for modular containerized data centers, including single-line diagrams, load calculations, panel schedules, grounding, cable sizing, and raceway layouts across 480 V and other international LV systems. - Run protective device coordination, arc flash, and short-circuit studies in SKM, ETAP, or equivalent tools and produce field-usable labels and reports. - Review and redline vendor submittals for UPS, battery systems, cooling distribution units, switchgear, distribution boards, PDUs, and generator/ATS packages. - Support manufacturing partners by answering RFIs, resolving layout and routing conflicts, and participating in factory witness testing. - Contribute to multi-jurisdictional compliance across international electrical, fire, and mission-critical facility codes and coordinate with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction. - Produce Statements of Requirement, design basis memos, block diagrams, and commissioning procedures. - Support field commissioning and troubleshooting, including occasional international travel.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program. - 3–7 years of post-degree electrical design experience, including at least 2 years in data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial power, or equivalent complex distribution. - Working knowledge of the NEC (NFPA 70) and ideally one or more IEC-based national codes. - Hands-on experience with protection coordination and arc flash software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or EasyPower. - Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or Revit MEP and Bluebeam Revu or equivalent markup tools. - Familiarity with UPS systems, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, transformers, and generator/ATS integration, plus ability to read mechanical and structural drawings to catch interdisciplinary conflicts.
Nice to have - PE or EIT licensure. - Experience with containerized or modular prefabricated data center products. - Knowledge of high-density liquid-cooled GPU systems and experience collaborating with external manufacturers across time zones.
Benefits and work setup - Remote role. - Competitive base salary with geographic tiers, equity, subsidized medical/dental/vision, HSA/FSA/DCFSAs, 401(k) and Roth 401(k), unlimited PTO, and 14 paid holidays per year.
