About this role

Role overview Own the architectural thread running through site due diligence, permitting, design, and construction for modular data center deployments across multiple countries. The work centers on building a standardized, repeatable design language so campuses and buildings scale globally instead of being reinvented per site, while serving as the architectural bridge between internal product and engineering teams and external architects, general contractors, and code consultants.

Responsibilities - Identify, vet, and manage domestic and international architecture vendors and permitting consultants, confirming code compliance with IBC and international equivalents. - Lead early-stage architectural due diligence for new global sites, flagging zoning, building code, and approval risks before they trigger redesign. - Develop and maintain a repeatable architectural concept for modular data center buildings, auxiliary structures, and campus layouts that scales across geographies. - Personally design first-of-a-kind products and site conditions in-house where no vendor precedent exists, then hand off to local consultants. - Act as the architectural point of contact linking product and engineering with external architects, general contractors, and local code consultants through fabrication, installation, and as-built construction. - Build and maintain architectural design standards, permitting checklists, and code-compliance workflows by geography, providing final operational readiness sign-off.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field and professional licensure (RA/AIA or international equivalent). - 5–7 years leading architectural design and permitting on ground-up commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facilities, including direct AHJ interaction. - Working knowledge of IBC plus comparable international building, fire, and life-safety codes. - Comfort defining the playbook independently rather than inheriting one. - Willingness to travel approximately 20–30% to project sites, vendor offices, and construction locations worldwide.

Nice to have - Prior experience with modular or prefabricated construction for data centers or mission-critical facilities. - Familiarity with data center-specific design considerations such as equipment yard layout, cooling and power coordination, and security/operations building programming. - Background standing up design standards, templates, or governance processes for a growing portfolio.

Benefits and work setup - Remote role with roughly 20–30% global travel. - Competitive base salary with geographic tiers, equity, subsidized medical/dental/vision, HSA/FSA/DCFSAs, 401(k) and Roth 401(k), unlimited PTO, and 14 paid holidays per year.
