About this role
Role overview A dedicated UX craft role on a product team building tools for technical users in the AI and machine-learning space. The position owns the end-to-end look and experience of the product, treating refinement as a first-class concern rather than an afterthought between feature deliveries. It pairs research and design with hands-on implementation alongside senior engineers.
Responsibilities - Identify user pain points by watching real sessions, reviewing behavioral analytics, and pulling friction patterns directly from observation tools. - Prototype interaction alternatives rapidly in Figma or in code to test approaches, then refine and iterate on flows and interaction patterns. - Implement interface improvements with smooth transitions and helpful inline guidance, partnering closely with senior engineers who own feature architecture. - Run lightweight usability tests to validate changes and gather qualitative feedback from real users. - Build and contribute to reusable interaction patterns, design systems, and animation libraries the broader team can leverage across the product. - Translate unstructured user feedback and product-feature requests into concrete design improvements and onboarding refinements.
Requirements - An engineering background, whether through prior frontend development work, a relevant degree, or demonstrated shipping of impactful design changes through AI-assisted coding tools. - Experience designing for complex tools such as developer tools, data platforms, or B2B SaaS products where polish and information density matter. - A portfolio of refinement work that shows measurable improvement to shipped products. - Comfort working in Figma to wireframe flows and communicating design intent clearly to engineering collaborators. - Habit of thinking about edge cases, loading states, and empty states as part of everyday design decisions.
Nice to have - Prior contributions to design systems or animation libraries. - Experience incorporating structured user feedback into iterative design cycles.
Benefits and work setup - Estimated annual salary between $165,000 and $200,000, plus a competitive equity package. - Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) plan. - Unlimited paid time off, a generous parental leave plan, and additional mental-health and wellness support resources.
