Senior Systems Engineer (Defense)

Role overview A senior systems engineering position supporting Enterprise Resiliency defense-related space system acquisitions through a Systems Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) engagement model. The role centers on technical modeling, end-to-end baseline closure, and digital engineering practices for a national security space portfolio. Work spans concept of operations development, architecture assessment, and strategic planning for future capability insertion across complex mission domains.

Responsibilities - Deliver technical modeling support by evaluating CONOPs, architecture products, system schedules, and risks to drive baseline closure for space protection activities - Support system readiness events using approved digital engineering processes for integration and closure - Coordinate across government enterprise engineers, acquisition offices, and contractor stakeholders to resolve complex technical challenges - Contribute to strategic planning for future capability acquisition and baseline insertion using digital tools - Develop and deliver briefings for senior-level customer stakeholders - Lead and participate in integrated engineering teams across the systems engineering functional disciplines

Requirements - Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, with ability to maintain it - 8-10 years with BS/BA, 6-8 years with MS/MA, or 3-5 years with a PhD in a STEM field - Hands-on technical experience with space-based sensors and systems - Knowledge of space, ground, and communications systems along with sensor vulnerabilities - Familiarity with system threats and a solid grasp of the Systems Engineering "V" process - Demonstrated technical leadership of integrated engineering teams on large acquisition programs, with strong written and oral communication

Nice to have - OCSMP certification (Level 1 or Level 2) with willingness to pursue Level 3 - Strong experience with MBSE, SysML, digital engineering tools, Confluence, and Jira - Background working with Intelligence Community or Department of Defense customers - Experience in requirements engineering, CONOPS development, verification, test, and end-to-end systems integration - Comfort with daily on-site collaboration alongside government customers - Experience managing requirements databases, threat scenarios, and VV&T strategies aligned to agile development
