Entry-level mechanical engineering role supporting the readiness and lifecycle management of submarine imaging systems, including legacy and photonic equipment. Responsibilities
- Create, review, and communicate requirements and technical data packages, including analysis of schematics, diagrams, and related engineering information. - Develop test plans, readiness assessments, installation guidance, and troubleshooting recommendations for fielded systems. - Analyze supplied technical information and conduct trade studies involving military-standard and commercial components. - Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to deliver integrated solutions and participate in cross-discipline design reviews. - Perform lifecycle engineering analyses, technical assessments, risk evaluations, recommendations, and status reporting. - Support engineering changes by analyzing requirements, documenting deficiencies, researching solutions, identifying form-fit-function replacements, and recommending actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applicable Navy technical experience; the source indicates a degree with approximately 0–2 years of experience. - Basic knowledge of general-purpose and RF laboratory equipment, such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, and function generators. - Technical writing ability and practical familiarity with systems engineering processes. - Experience with electrical or mechanical CAD tools such as Altium Designer, LTspice, OrCAD, or SolidWorks. - Proficiency with common productivity and technical documentation tools, including Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. - Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret-level security clearance and work independently or within a multidisciplinary team.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with cameras, lasers, electro-optical equipment, antennas, amplifiers, filters, signal distribution, motors, gyros, synchros, or control systems. - Active Secret clearance, PCB design experience, or one to two years working with optical, electrical, or electronics systems. - Experience with MATLAB, Linux-based systems, finite-element analysis software, or engineering visualization tools.
