Entry Level Systems Engineer

Role overview

This entry-level systems engineering opportunity supports a team delivering systems engineering and software development work for U.S. Navy submarine programs. The focus is on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), digital engineering practices, and requirements management for mission-critical defense systems. Responsibilities

- Build system architectures and behavioral models using MBSE tools such as Cameo to capture how Navy systems are structured and operate. - Identify and apply modern digital engineering approaches that improve traditional engineering workflows. - Help develop and manage system requirements, track performance metrics, and contribute to running the systems engineering process. - Collaborate with engineers to create and refine system models using SysML, commercial modeling tools, scripting languages, and macros. - Coordinate with cross-functional teams to keep engineering efforts aligned and properly integrated across the program. - Perform requirements verification and compliance assessments in support of program reviews and key deliverables.

Requirements

- High school diploma plus 3–4 years of relevant experience, currently pursuing a BS in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field (engineering, computer science, or similar). - Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and standard office productivity tools. - Foundational understanding of systems engineering and digital engineering concepts. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication abilities. - Professional demeanor and the ability to engage comfortably across the work environment. - A collaborative mindset with a passion for learning, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the mission. - Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance within one year of employment.

Nice to have

- Hands-on experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, MagicDraw, NoMagic, TeamWork Cloud, or Cameo Collaborator. - Familiarity with descriptive modeling languages like SysML or UML. - Building custom report templates with Velocity Template Language (VTL). - Programming experience with object-oriented languages such as Groovy, Python, C++, or Java. - Use of Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket). - Exposure to process improvement frameworks such as CMMI. - Prior work in Agile or Scrum-driven team environments.

Benefits and work setup
