About this role
Role overview Strengthen frontier AI systems by authoring challenging, deterministic electrical engineering problems and verified solutions for training and evaluation pipelines. This remote, part-time contract centers on producing high-caliber STEM data items that reflect real engineering workflows and require multi-step quantitative reasoning.
Responsibilities - Create advanced problems spanning circuits, electronics, signal processing, control systems, electromagnetics, power systems, and communications - Design exercises that demand layered quantitative reasoning and sound engineering judgment - Write fully worked, verifiable solutions and document the underlying reasoning clearly - Validate computations using Python, MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE-family simulators, or other specialized engineering tools - Ensure every deliverable is technically precise, reproducible, and clearly written in English
Requirements - Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline - Research or industry experience in electrical systems, electronics, signal processing, controls, communications, or power engineering - Strong mathematical and computational problem-solving skills - Solid command of circuit analysis, modeling, numerical methods, and core engineering fundamentals - Ability to design original, research-style problems that mirror authentic electrical engineering workflows - Excellent attention to detail and technical writing skills in English
Nice to have - Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, LTspice, PSpice, PSCAD, or LabVIEW - Background in control theory, digital signal processing, power electronics, RF systems, or embedded systems - Prior work evaluating model reasoning, designing benchmarks, or authoring technical assessments
Benefits and work setup - Remote contract at roughly 20 hours per week, with compensation up to 40 USD per hour - Two-month initial project, potential extension, and immediate start availability
