Role overview

Support the operation of a global telescope network and the maintenance of accurate space-object catalogs. This hands-on role combines observatory operations, satellite-tracking data analysis, technical troubleshooting, documentation, and quality assurance within a team that provides continuous 24/7 coverage.

Responsibilities

- Monitor and analyze telescope-network operations and related observation data. - Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of space-object catalogs and derived products. - Configure and support edge-computing environments running Windows and Linux. - Triage operational issues, investigate root causes, and coordinate follow-up actions. - Develop metrics and contribute to software improvements that strengthen monitoring and efficiency. - Work with users to translate operational needs into practical features while balancing usability and engineering constraints.

Requirements

- Engineering background in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline. - Ability to understand complex systems and detailed technical requirements quickly. - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with limited supervision. - Clear communication, organization, documentation, and training-writing skills. - Willingness to work shifts, on-call rotations, or extended hours in a monitoring and operations environment. - Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

- Knowledge of orbital mechanics and satellite-orbit regimes. - Familiarity with space-domain awareness, object catalogs, conjunction analysis, or maneuver analysis. - Experience with telescope or other phenomenology observation data. - Three or more years using programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, Rust, Go, or JavaScript.

Benefits and work setup

This is a contributor role on a 24/7 operations team. The listed U.S. base-salary range is $132,000–$198,000, with actual compensation dependent on experience, education, skills, and business factors. Full-time roles may also include equity and comprehensive benefits.
