Intern, Data Science, Biostatistics-Remote

Role overview Remote biostatistics and data science internship supporting cardiovascular, clinical, and population health research. Interns collaborate with biostatisticians, data scientists, clinicians, and external research partners on real-world projects that advance evidence generation, rigorous study design, and data-driven decision-making within a non-profit health organization.

Responsibilities - Prepare, clean, validate, and document clinical, registry, and research datasets. - Conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analyses under senior team guidance. - Support study design considerations such as sample size, power, and statistical analysis plans, and help interpret findings. - Develop and evaluate statistical models including regression, survival analysis, longitudinal methods, and mixed-effects approaches as appropriate to the research question. - Build reproducible analytical workflows in R, Python, SAS, or other approved statistical tools. - Perform quality-control reviews of data, code, tables, figures, and analytical outputs. - Produce publication-ready tables, figures, data visualizations, and summaries for scientific and business audiences. - Contribute to literature reviews, manuscripts, abstracts, conference materials, and presentations. - Participate in team meetings, code reviews, documentation activities, and research best-practice initiatives.

Requirements - Currently pursuing an MS or PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative field. - Foundational knowledge of statistical methods, research design, and interpretation of quantitative findings. - Experience with statistical programming in R; additional experience in Python or SAS is a plus. - Experience working with healthcare, clinical, cardiovascular, registry, or population health data. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills. - Commitment to reproducible research, data quality, and clear documentation, with effective communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences. - Coursework or applied experience in regression modeling, survival analysis, longitudinal analysis, causal inference, clinical trials, or observational research. - Reliable Wi-Fi connection, intermediate-to-excellent proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and a minimum availability of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship; remote work must be performed inside the United States.

Nice to have - Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or large language model techniques. - Experience creating publication-ready tables and figures or contributing to scientific writing. - Comfort with version control, code review, and reproducible workflow practices.
