Principal Software Engineer - Product Platforms

Role overview Build and evolve shared, API-first product platforms used by multiple teams, external integrations, and AI agents. This principal-level role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership across teams, shaping platform direction while owning systems through production.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and operate high-scale APIs with clear contracts and reliability guarantees. - Develop agentic workflows, including orchestration, state management, tools, and integration patterns. - Set API design standards through implementation, technical reviews, and practical guidance. - Work across product, platform, and reliability teams to improve API security, observability, and scalability. - Resolve complex problems with ambiguous requirements and reduce systemic technical risks. - Mentor senior engineers and influence adoption through hands-on contribution.

Requirements - Extensive experience as a senior staff- or principal-level engineer working on applications and backend systems. - Track record building shared platforms or services for multiple product teams. - Experience designing, building, and operating APIs at scale, including strong REST expertise. - Some experience designing, using, or operating GraphQL in production. - Deep understanding of system design, performance, reliability, and long-term system evolution. - Strong hands-on ownership and ability to guide technical direction across teams.

Nice to have - Experience enabling AI-driven or agentic workflows, including MCP or similar integration patterns. - Background in distributed systems, API governance, versioning, and backward compatibility. - Experience working closely with platform and site reliability teams.
