Staff Software Engineer, Payments Compliance

Role overview A Staff Software Engineer role on the Payments Compliance team, building and maintaining the software that keeps payment flows compliant with regulatory and partner requirements. The work sits at the intersection of payments engineering, risk, and policy, ensuring money movement meets legal, financial, and platform standards. The position is fully remote within the United States.

Responsibilities - Design and implement services that enforce compliance rules within the payments stack - Partner with policy, legal, risk, and payments engineering to translate requirements into code - Set technical direction across compliance-critical payment workflows - Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural reviews - Investigate and resolve complex compliance and regulatory engineering issues at scale

Requirements - Significant software engineering experience operating at staff scope on production systems - Deep familiarity with payments, financial transactions, or other regulated workflows - Strong coding skills in commonly used backend languages and distributed systems - Experience collaborating with legal, risk, or compliance stakeholders - Track record of leading complex engineering initiatives end to end

Nice to have - Background in KYC, AML, sanctions screening, or related compliance domains - Familiarity with financial regulatory frameworks such as PCI or SOX
