Vice President of Design

Role overview

An executive design leadership opportunity to direct the end-to-end user experience, product design, and design research functions for an AI-native enterprise readiness platform. Reporting to the Chief Product and Technology Officer, the role sets the overall design vision, tackles complex human-computer interaction challenges, and partners with Product, Engineering, and Data peers to shape how government and industrial customers orchestrate mission-critical execution. It is a full-time position based out of offices in Arlington, Pittsburgh, or San Francisco, or remote within the United States, with up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities

- Define and drive the product design vision, UX strategy, and visual standards across the entire enterprise product suite. - Pioneer new design paradigms for AI-native workflows, complex data visualizations, and decision-support tools used in high-stakes operational settings. - Champion user-centered design processes and rigorous usability testing to simplify complex enterprise software workflows. - Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data leadership to align technical architecture and functional roadmaps with user needs. - Build, mentor, and scale a multidisciplinary design organization spanning UI/UX, user research, design systems, and AI design sub-disciplines.

Requirements

- U.S. citizenship is required. - 10–15 years of experience leading design teams in complex software environments, with at least five years in executive design leadership. - Proven track record of design leadership on AI-native platforms, complex analytics, or enterprise SaaS applications. - Demonstrated success partnering cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Data Science executive leadership. - Deep expertise in human-computer interaction, user research methodology, and optimizing complex workflows. - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience, plus experience thriving in a high-growth startup environment.

Nice to have

- Current U.S. security clearance or the ability to obtain one with company sponsorship. - Experience transitioning a design function into an AI-native software development lifecycle. - Background designing solutions for defense, government, or public sector agencies. - Familiarity with complex supply chain, logistics, or industrial operations platforms.
