About this role

Role overview Join as a Staff Network Engineer to lead the design and evolution of edge-to-cloud connectivity for a fleet of commercial humanoids operating in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers. This is a technical authority role shaping enterprise-grade networking foundations that bridge on-premise robot deployments with a cloud-native control plane, prioritizing high availability and low latency.

Responsibilities - Architect next-generation connectivity solutions using 5G and private LTE networks, integrating containerized network functions to optimize edge performance. - Design scalable, multi-tenant network architectures for global robot deployments, with emphasis on security, performance, and fleet-wide observability. - Engineer high-throughput, low-latency telemetry and control traffic paths using kernel-level tuning and modern packet processing frameworks. - Define standards for secure, high-performance tunneling between distributed edge devices and centralized cloud infrastructure. - Partner with cross-functional leadership to align network infrastructure with long-term business and product goals.

Requirements - 8+ years in network architecture, systems engineering, or a staff-level networking role in complex, distributed environments. - Expertise in Telco/5G wireless networking, including containerized network functions and kernel-level performance optimization. - Mastery of the Linux network stack and foundational protocols (BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP). - Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex SDN and virtualization solutions at scale. - Expert-level PCAP and 802.11 Wi-Fi frame analysis using Wireshark and tcpdump to resolve failures, roaming issues, and latency bottlenecks. - Working knowledge of IEEE 802.11 standards and channel/band behaviors across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequencies. - Willingness to travel 25%-50% within the US and Canada.

Nice to have - Deep proficiency with AWS cloud networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, IoT Core). - Familiarity with Linux kernel eBPF/XDP for high-performance packet processing and observability. - Experience with RF spectrum analysis tools to identify interference and channel contention.

Benefits and work setup - Fully remote with optional hybrid work near Salem, OR; Pittsburgh, PA; or Fremont, CA. - Anticipated base salary range: $181,000–$282,000 USD, depending on location and experience. - 401(k) with company match, equity, and an annual discretionary bonus for eligible roles. - 100% company-paid medical, dental, vision, and short/long-term disability for employees. - Flexible/unlimited PTO for exempt employees, 12 company holidays, and a winter shutdown. - Relocation assistance, parental leave, EAP, tuition/professional development support, and on-site perks at Salem and Pittsburgh locations.
